VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended ground-breaking
ceremony of Cam Lo-La Son Expressway, the first in 11 components of the
North-South expressway in the East, on September 16 in Quang Tri province.

The North-South Expressway is the first national key
project in the 2017-2020 period which was passed by the National Assembly
with 11 components including the Cam Lo-La Son line which connects Quang Tri
and Thua Thien Hue provinces with a total length of 100km. The VND 7,669
billion project is expected to come into operation in 2021.
The Government planned to build an addition of 900km
of highways by 2021 and 2,000 km of highways by 2025, bringing the total
length of highways to 4,000 km by 2025.
National highways play an important role in
connecting provinces, cities, key economic regions, national development,
and higher living standards. Especially, expressways serve to cut labor
cots, product costs, and generate competitiveness in the context of deep
According to PM Phuc, Viet Nam will have four key
transport lines including the National Road No. 1 which is being upgraded;
Ho Chi Minh Road, North-South Expressway, and costal road.
He was convinced that the Cam Lo-La Son expressway
would help boost economic growth in Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue.
On this occasion, the PM praised the Ministry of
Transport, relevant ministries and agencies, the Ho Chi Minh Road Management
Board, the local authorities of Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue for the
groundbreaking ceremony. He noticed the local authorities to pay attention
to residents who gave up land for the project to stabilize lives.
In addition, he tasked the Ministry of Transport,
the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board and bidders to implement the project
on schedule with good quality; prevent corruption and negative acts./.
