National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân, former President Trương Tấn Sang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee Trương Thị Mai, former Vice President Trương Mỹ Hoa and Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyễn Ngọc Thiện, among other officials, attended the opening ceremony in Đà Lạt.
“The festival, themed ‘Đà Lạt Flowers – Miracle from the Good Earth’, provides local farmers and florists with opportunities to introduce their products, including vegetables, tea, coffee and silk, among others,” chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Đoàn Văn Việt said at the opening ceremony. “It will also help boost tourism, attract investment, and emphasise the significant value that Đà Lạt flowers have in local and international markets.”
On a different note, Ngân praised provincial efforts in achieving economic targets and increasing the production value of vegetables, flowers and agricultural products in 2017.
“Đà Lạt is also responsible for maintaining value and bringing customers the highest-quality products,” she said.
Multiple activities will be offered at the festival between December 24 and 27, including a wine tasting event, art performances, an Áo Dài (traditional Vietnamese dress) fashion week, street parades, trade fairs and seminars to promote investment in Lâm Đồng, among others.
In addition, local artists as well as artists from South Korea, Holland and Japan are participating in flower displays.
The Đà Lạt Flower Festival in 2015 welcomed 450,000 visitors, up 30 per cent compared to 2013.
